Hey friends! Today I wanted to share a review with you. The product I’ll be discussing is the ever-famous Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, and I have the shade Medium Brown.
Price: $18.00
Amount of Product: Net weight is 4 grams/0.14 ounces
Animal Testing: Anastasia Beverly Hills is a cruelty free brand
I also purchased Anastasia’s #12 brush which is $18. It has an angled brush on one end and a spooli on the other. Obviously you don’t need to use this specific brush with this product, but I thought I’d try this since I didn’t already own an angled brush that was a good size for brows.
As for my thoughts on the brush, I think it’s very nice. The angled side works well with this product and having a spooli on the other side is really handy since it can help to blend the product. I like this brush for powder as well, it’s nice and firm and not too thick which helps with precision.
Lets go through some pros and cons of this product.
I find the Dipbrow Pomade to be very long lasting. I’ve worn it multiple times and haven’t had any issues with the product moving or smudging throughout the day.
The photo below is after some vigorous rubbing over the product using my hand. I was scrubbing REALLY hard with my fingers. I think you’ll be able to see some fading, but nothing smudged. There is no reason your brows should be enduring that type of friction during the course of a normal day so I think the staying power is excellent. I also ran some water over my hand and it did nothing to the product. After hand washing with normal soap, I’ve still got some leftover marks from these swatches, and it took a lot of scrubbing and scratching to get it off.
Another pro to this product is that it’s s creamy so it applies easily without pulling or tugging.
There are also 11 shades to choose from which is a nice range of color options.
Something I’d like to note about the colors-when I swatched Medium Brown next to Dark Brown in the store, I barely noticed a difference between the two. They weren’t exactly the same, but since that was a while ago I can’t remember the differences. However they were very close in my opinion. I chose to go with Medium Brown since I figured the lighter the better with this kind of intense product.
Applying this product can be time consuming for me in comparison to other methods like a pencil or powder. (This may be personal opinion though because when I apply a pencil or powder, I’m going for a quick fill in as opposed to perfected sculpting and shaping.) This is an intensely pigmented product, and I have to be pretty slow in applying it to my brows to make they don’t look overdone or like I ran a sharpie through my brows. And while the creamy nature of the product helps it apply smoothly, it can also lead to a really heavy look if you’re not careful. However it is possible to create a more natural look by using your brush to make tiny strokes that mimic your brow hairs. This is what I tried to do in my application, and I think you can still see my brow hairs in the pictures as opposed to brows that are filled in with solid, opaque color.
While you do have some play time with the Pomade, it sets relatively quickly. This is why I would also recommend starting small with minimal product and then building up. A little goes a long way, and it’s much easier to build this up than to try and remove it during the application process. The jar lid can be helpful for blending and pressing product into the brush as well as scraping excess product.
While the price may seem like a con, I think this is going to last for a really long time which helps balance the price issue. That is assuming however that it won’t dry out too fast! Just make sure to close the cap tightly.
Overall, I think this is a great product! It’s intensely pigmented, long lasting, has great staying power, and you can create very a very precise and “perfect” brow look or a more natural look depending on your technique. This wouldn’t be my pick for something really quick if I needed to run out the door or for when I’m wanting a more simple look, but for events, videos, photos, and when you’re going for a flawless makeup look, I think it’s great. And while it takes me a bit more time, it is possible get a natural look out of this product by using it sparingly to create strokes that mimic brow hairs.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope you found this review helpful 🙂

Aw thank you Elizabeth, so sweet of you! You know it’s funny it seems to look more natural in close up pictures than in real life-probably because I can still see hair texture in pictures 🙂

Really? It looks a little overdone in person? I woulda never guessed. I’m still learning how to fill in my brows bcoz it’s so ez to go overboard with just a little extra brush flick. I do mine looking in a regular mirror with a full face view. I found that if I look into a little compact or a magnifying mirror I put waaay to much product on, lol.

Haha that makes sense. Oh I wouldn’t say it looks overdone in person, just not quite as natural as in a close up picture since you can’t see individual hairs 🙂 It’s more of a perfected look overall.

R u using short strokes to mimic hairs? I learned where my “sparse spots” r and I only fill those areas as needed, otherwise I look really mad, hahaha

Haha yeah I gotcha. It gives a nice look, all the different methods just look different sometimes 🙂

Ahhh Anastasia, one of my best friends…Nicely groomed eyebrows are just flat out a must for me. I can’t walk out the door without them being just so. I could go without everything else but I need my Anastasia. LOL. The funny thing is that just a few years ago I never touched up my eyebrows, just kept them groomed. I personally love her brow powder in auburn and eyebrow mascara in the same hue. I actually use them both at the same time. My daughter loves the dip brow. Can I add that one pet peeve of mine is that women just over pluck these babies when they are younger, and then pay the consequences when they get older and they stop growing. Thankfully, I had my mom always worn me of this, so mine are nice and full…A good way to keep people guessing your age. My mom at 76 has amazing full brows and I intend to follow suit. Thanks for highlighting this important feature. 😉

You’re welcome! Totally agree. I also didn’t used to do anything with them at all years ago. Hard to stop once you start haha. Yeah I too have never wanted to over pluck-I’ve always heard of that turning out poorly in the end! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Great review! I personally love filling in my brows, I think it can really change up your face and tie everything together. One thing to note about this, and you may already know, but to further prevent this from drying out I would suggest storing it flat with the lid down.

Thanks! And me too. It seems to be a necessary part of the routine now. I do believe I’ve heard that but it’s nice to have that idea reinforced since I wasn’t too sure 🙂

I like this mixture of pigment and wax, even though it looks more a product for make up artists, rather than an everyday-easy-to-wear thing. I’m looking forward to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills goodies for the brows, as I’m normally doing mine with a benefit pencil I’ve been repurchasing for ages…thanks for sharing with us review and swatches. Very very useful!

I have been avoiding filling my brows because it looks unnatural on me. But it looks really good on you and now I feel like trying brow products again! 🙂

Thanks lovely, that’s very sweet! I definitely don’t think this product is the MOST natural look haha-but I think especially with a powder you can do something really light and subtle just to add a little definition 🙂
