Hey everyone! I’ve got a lovely palette to share with you today, and it’s the Kat Von D Chrysalis Eyeshadow Palette. This palette features beautiful grays, blues, and purples and is mostly cool toned.
This palette costs $46. I’m a lucky girl and got it for $35 since my sister has a friend who works at Sephora 😉 I always find a way to be cheaper! (This palette is no longer available at Sephora, but it is available on the Kat Von D website which is linked above.)

On to the shadows and makeup look!
Left to right/Bottom to Top: Lifelike (matte cream), Hybrid Moments (deep matte purple), Mezzanine (sparkle violet), Transition (pearl mauve)
Left to Right/Bottom to Top: Lunar Lights (pearl gray/silver), Glasswing (matte caramel), Melancholia (pearl silver-deeper than lunar lights), Black Milk (matte gray)
Left to Right/Bottom to Top: Ludic (light pink with glitter), Graphic Nature (pearl charcoal), Entombed (pearl blue), Tornay (matte navy/black)
The colors in this palette are beautiful! There is a nice mix of matte and shimmery shades-there are five matte shades and the rest are shimmery or have microglitter. The textures of the shadows vary. Most of them are very soft and creamy feeling. Some of the others feel drier to the touch including Hybrid Moments, Mezzanine, Lucid and Tornay. Despite having different textures, all the shadows are nicely pigmented although not all of the shadows are fully opaque. Mezzanine and Entombed for example are a more on the sheer/iridescent side-they aren’t opaque like many of the other shades, but they can be built up or you can pack them on over a sticky base or glitter adhesive. One con of this palette is that these shadows kick up a lot of powder when you go to pick up product on your brush. That’s not necessarily an issue of function, but it does make a mess and is very messy. I also get fallout with these shades even when I’m trying to be careful, especially for shades that contain microglitter. The lasting power of these shadows is also great. I’ve had no problems getting through a day using an eye shadow primer. Overall, I love this palette and think the colors are beautiful. It can be a little messy to work with, but it’s worth it to me.
Here is a dramatic eye look for you! I was also wearing this palette in my Anastasia Dipbrow Review post.
I used Tornay to create the crease shape, and carefully blended it with Graphic Nature. I also used Tornay under the eye and smoked it out with Mezzanine (used wet.) The main lid color is Melancholia mostly used dry. I used it wet in a few spots to intensity the color and clean up some lines.
Really stunning, kinda reminds of the makeup from Black Swan 😉

Thanks so much! I totally agree. I know when I have trouble describing the color (I mostly used the color descriptions from the website) that they are interesting and unique 🙂

I recently bought a few of the “studded” collection from KVD, and I was so dissatisfied. Returned them after 2 days of use.

Thank you!! Oh definitely. I’ve used it quite a few times since I wanted to test it out before writing about it. You can definitely get some more calm, less dramatic looks out of it too 🙂

Thank you!! It always turns out more bold than I plan haha. But I’m wanting to try and work on cut creases. My first attempt was a massacre so this was my second experimentation 🙂

It looks really nice. Cut creases always look really good on other people until I attempt to do them on myself.

That’s exactly how I feel! This wasn’t really exactly what I was planning but on everyone else it’s always so darn perfect!
